All hail the Winter Homecoming King and Queen! Fun and festivity found in Winter Homecoming 2025
Hiawatha High School students Cameron Bosworth and Dani Morton were officially crowned as Winter Homecoming King and Queen of 2025 during halftime at the Red Hawk boys’ basketball game portion of the homecoming basketball competition against the Riley County Falcons during a special coronation ceremony that also featured winter homecoming candidates Alija Contreras and Tyler Willich and Kameron Winder and Jana Capparos. Both sides of the gym was packed full of members from the community, especially those who moved to get close enough to snap photos of the King and Queen.
Red Hawk Scholar’s Bowl varsity team finish season at Silver Lake
The Hiawatha High School Red Hawk Scholar’s Bowl team finished their season by competing at the Regional Scholar’s Bowl meet at Silver Lake on Thursday, Feb. 6, where the varsity team placed fifth among the 16 teams from northeast Kansas present at the event.

The Hiawatha Red Hawks (5-9, 2-5) won at home on Friday night by a score of 73-58. They defeated the Riley County Falcons (4-10, 2-6).
