The Horton Senior Citizens were sponsors of the Brown County Senior Social along with other sponsors from the Hiawatha area on Sept. 25. Horton area supporters were Aged Goodness, Pizza Bakery, 1st Option Bank, Central Auto Parts, Horton Thriftway, Maximum Insurance, Kidwell Chiropractic, Schlagel Popcorn, Lentz Express, American Family, Union State Bank, NEK Home Health and Hospice, and two new businesses, Vilma’s Cafe, and Dejavu Vintage Treasures & More. The Horton Senior Citizens have had a wonderfully busy week. We continue to have Drums Alive. This is a really fun exercise group for seniors. We still have room for others to join in. We meet on Mondays at 9 a.m. at the Senior Center. Drums will also be performed at this Thursdays Brown County Senior Social on Sept. 25th!

The Members of the Horton Senior Citizens were honored with a special tour of the laundry iron collection at the Everest Community Historical Society. Thank you so much for the tour and some wonderful history information provided by Brenda Troupe who assembled this wonderful collection. Those who were able to attend were Mary Patterson, Dean Mercer, Linda Messer, Carolyn Huguenin, Linda Burnett and Janice Langdon.

The Horton Senior Citizens would like to thank everyone who brings in food for all of our activities. We never want for treats for Coffee Groups, Game Day, treats for visitors, and many other events. A big thank you goes to the Tim Stevens family for the large portions of food which will be used at our carry in dinner on Sept. 16. Their thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.

The Horton Senior Center has Game Day every Saturday afternoon at 1-3 p.m. in the afternoon. Those attending choose which game or games they would like to play. Sometimes we have three different games going on at the same time! Visitors are welcome to come in and join us!

Movie Nite at the Horton Senior Center featured a movie that was a wonderful story about Sybil Ludington, a young woman who rode 40 miles on horseback to notify militia about a British attack. Thank you to Jim and Shirley Foster for sharing the movie with us.
